MOORING SYSTEMS : BUOYS

 

 MOORING BUOY: 20mm galvanised steel rod leads down the centre of the buoy. At the bottom there is a small eye to attach the riser chain, while at the top a stopper bar exists along with a 16mm ring which is used to attach the pennant line leading to the yacht. This rod has a breaking point of over 10 tons. It is easily replaced and repaired.


To be used only with connector shackles to guarantee holding

Avoid this !!

 Polypropylene mooring buoys must be filled with polyurethane expandable foam > 70% in order to avoid sinking if damaged. They must also be of a big enough volume to support the weight of the riser chain.

The life expectancy of this buoy is 3 times longer than ordinary air filled ones. We provide two sizes - 70 & 120 litres, which one to use depends on the weight of the riser chain.
