INISHGLAS :HISTORIQUE DE LA CONSTRUCTION - CONSTRUCTION'S TALE

  Launched in the (very) small harbour of Portin, Keel Bay, Achill Island, the 4th of february 2007 


Le projet Inishglas s'est concrétisé dans un petit pub situé au bord
d'Achill Sound, une fin d'après midi d'été.
La fabrication dans un chantier qu'elle remplissait presque entièrement fût un challenge extraordinaire. Merci à tous les amis qui nous ont aidé !

Inishglas project came to life in a small pub on the west bank of Achill Sound,
in the end of the afternoon. Building her, in the yard which was
quite filled with her, was an exceptional challenge.
Many thanks to all the friends which helped us.

The welders : Greg & Pauwel, made a great job,
with nearly one kilometer of perfect weldings in the expected time.

Les soudeurs, Greg& Pauwel, ont fait un excellent travailn dans les délais,
avec près d'un kilomètre de soudures irréprochables.


Au fond, le Croagh Patrick ou Montagne sacrée.

Il a fallu casser le pignon du chantier pour sortir le bateau !
Cela n'a pas beaucoup plus au propriétaire, le conseil gaëlique ( Achill Island est un Gaeltacht ) mais en Irlande ce qui est de bon sens est plus facile à faire accepter.


We had to cut the wall of the building to exit the ship !
This was not very much appreciated by the owner, Achill Udaràs . . .


Il a fallu toute la matinée pour faire douze kilomètres en passant sous ces câbles,
It took the whole morning to transit 7 miles under all those wires.


et près d'une heure pour négocier le virage de l'entrée du port,
and nearly one hour to turn in the harbour's road.

Portin : pretty harbour but entrance : 8 m - Inishglas beam : 6 m ! ! !

 Final fittings were made in a much better shelter, Rossmoney.
